This is a very widespread and exclusive Normand subtype as it's birtually absent from Brittany and Picardy. Darker and dinaromorphic variants are found as well.

Ce type s'inscrit dans la variabilité atlantique française mais n'en reste pas moins assez spécifiquement normand quant à la forme du nez (nez convexe à 45° implanté assez bas), les petits yeux, ... On pense au comédien Bourvil.
This type belongs to western France's Atlantic variability, yet it is specifically Normand when it comes to nose shape (a low-rooted and convex 45° nose), little eyes, ... The comedian Bourvil comes to our mind.
Les individus dans une variabilité plus sombre s'insèrent plus classiquement dans la variabilité atlantique.
Darker individuals do fit more classically into Atlantic variation.

There is a very high affinity with British types in this sample, which makes total sense, as Lower Normandy was one of the areas from where Britain was settled, probably at different times, but specially clear in the Neolithic.
ReplyDeleteI could not identify other affinities, except for isolated pairs of individuals. For example C3 and C4 give me some "North Italian" vibe but maybe they represent in fact a different French subtype also present in North Italy and South America (they could be Argentineans for example). The highest I can go with my infamous "Basque index" in this case is to 2.
